At the League's November meeting, County Superintendent of Schools Faris Sabbah will discuss the status of public education in Santa Cruz County and his plans to confront the many challenges facing our education system.

If you want to participate in early retirement, reduced teacher workload, be granted a leave of absence, or get benefits over the Summer after resigning, you must fill out needed paperwork and turn it in by January 31st each year.

We ask all Educators and Allies to dress in Red For Ed! to show the need for more funding for our public schools. K12 schools have historically been staffed by a majority of women, and always have been underpaid. It’s time for the State of California to change this paradigm. More details to follow.
Join the 1st Statewide Red for Ed Day in California. Demand California per pupil funding moves from near the bottom to the top 10 nationwide. Wear Red in solidarity with our Educator Colleagues in L.A as they go on strike and in support of our bargaining, beginning Thursday, January 10th.

Our annual budget will be reviewed at a General Membership Session prior to the GSCFT Reps. meeting. We will be meeting in a classroom due to the book fair.

Check your emails for the link to the vote on our Tentative Agreement with SCCS for the Re-Opener on compensation. Vote closes 10/12.
All GSCFT Site Reps. are encouraged to attend our October Reps. meeting at PAL (Partnership Labor and Administration) Convening. We will have the union meeting from 3:45-4:30, then move into our PAL convening for the 18-19 school year. This PAL session will focus on curriculum looking through the frame of the four SCCS focus areas. We will have presentations from our new Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Curriculum Directors, then will meet with our sites to look at our site programs, then share in large group so we can understand where we are as a District. Dinner will be served.
GSCFT Site Représentatives: Mark your calendars and make sure one Rep. from each site is at our 1st meeting. We will meet in the Library at Delaveaga School. Healthy and delicious snacks and beverages are always served to get you through that afternoon energy crash.
All GSCFT and SCCCE members are invited to come participate in our endorsement forum for the SCCS Board. Three seats are open. Our COPE committee will be interviewing candidates; then we will discuss and vote on endorsements. Participate in democracy at the grassroots! This is our school community.
