Please contact me directly through that email so I can add you to our contact list. Voting closes at 4:30 on Wednesday, 2/14/18 .

We will also have a portion of the meeting for General Membership items: Negotiations Update and AFT Convention.
Please join GSCFT to march in the anniversary Women's March Santa Cruz. We are co-sponsors of this march. We will gather near the intersection of Locust and Pacific, in front of Verve Coffee. We start gathering at 11:00 and march to Louden Nelson center at noon. There is an activist fair at Louden Nelson after the March. Please RSVP if you think you will attend so I have an idea of how many CFT signs to bring. I can also drop signs off at your school site if you would like to make a sign ahead of time.

Come to the MAH and MAKE your sign for the 2018 Women’s March! Power to the Picket is a picket sign making drop-in art activity where you can make a picket sign with either a blank canvas or use a MAH made template and fill in the blanks. Great for all ages. The MAH is working with and helping promote the Women’s March with this activity. Casey will bring CFT sign blanks to the event.
Landed is now in Santa Cruz County and is offering home buying assistance to all school district employees across our county. Representatives Ian Magruder, (SCCS graduate) and Jessica Zhao will be presenting information and answering questions for potential home buyers. landed.com

This is the annual Employment Verification form we fill out every January on paper, now being sent out digitally. You need to check to make sure the information is accurate. You do not need to respond to Desiree's email, unless there is a correction to be made. Your response is requested back by 12/8. This is not connected to any plan for transfers; this is the same procedure we do every year, but via email to save paper etc.
GSCFT Reps Council will be meeting at Delaveaga School on Monday, Dec. 4. We have a special guest, our State President, Joshua Pechthalt. We will be having a holiday tamale treat.
SAVE THE DATE! Our November Site Reps. Council meeting will feature a special presentation by CFT Budget expert Emily Gordon to help us read our school district budgets. Emily is informative and interesting and explains the budget in terms we can all understand. We will start at 3:45 and Emily will begin presenting around 4:15.
At the Museum of Art and History, a panel discussion about our Housing Crisis in Santa Cruz and how to move forward with solutions.
SCCS District has brought to negotiations the topic of Restructured Wednesdays, and how they are utilized. We do not have a specific proposal yet. GSCFT will then need to respond on behalf of the elementary teachers.
To inform our GSCFT Bargaining Team, we are going to hold a Listening Session on October 16, at Gault School in Room 1A (Kinder) at 3:30. This will be a structured meeting, functioning in Round Robin style. All ideas, responses etc will be recorded without judgement.
(If needed we can have more sessions in the future)
Our negotiating team wants to hear from you about how the use of Wednesdays has evolved over time, what staff would think about making changes to any Wednesdays, how staff feels about adequacy of collaboration time, teacher prep time etc.
GSCFT REPS and COPE Committee members will be interviewing applicants for the vacancy on the SCCS School Board . The SCCS Board will vote on the new appointee at a special board meeting on October 11. GSCFT Reps will vote on the endorsement. All members are welcome to come observe and meet with their school site rep in a small caucus prior to the vote for recommendation. Light dinner and dessert will be served. This event is open to GSCFT members, not to the general public. The public can watch the interviews at the Board meeting on October 11.
Our GSCFT REPS Council meeting in October will open with a general membership meeting. The General Membership meetings are held twice a year, in October to approve the union budget and at the conclusion of negotiations. After the General Membership meeting, the GSCFT Reps. meeting will take place.

The California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) is hosting their first ever New Member Workshop to introduce new members to their retirement plan/system. New members will learn about their benefits, how their retirement benefit is calculated, and steps they can take to increase their benefit. They will also learn about Pension2, CalSTRS' voluntary defined contribution plan, which offers low-cost 403(b) and 457(b) plans for additional income in retirement.

Mayor Chase will host a meeting for West Side staff members at Bay View Elementary School on September 21, 2017, @ 3:15 p.m.
Mayor Chase will host a meeting for East Side staff members at Branciforte Middle School on October 5, 2017 @ 3:15 p.m.
Each meeting will last about one hour.
